Roleplaying Experience: I've been playing for at least four years.

In Character

Name: Jin "Lotus" Park
Age: 18
Powers:
note: Due to all the time Lotus has spent in the hospitals, he has a fairly large knowledge of his powers and weaknesses.

PRIMARY: Bone manipulation:
» Lotus can manipulate his bones in a variety of ways.
» Defensive manipulations include: creating knuckle guards when throwing a punch, or 'growing' bones over the small of his back to protect against a kidney punch, or reinforcing a bone to prevent injury (this is especially helpful when being kicked in the ribs).
» Can generate spikes over 90% of his body at one shot, kind of resembling a human porcupine.
» Can also create spines to throw like darts, or larger constructs to use more like daggers or swords.
» Controls how sharp the constructs are, and can easily snap them off.
» Can pass out after an extreme prolonged use of his ability: in the hospital, he was forced into pushing the small spines out of his skin, letting them break off and fall to the ground before doing it again, for four hours before he passed out.

SECONDARY: accelerated healing:
» It hurts to manipulate is bones out of his skin, but when he does, the wounds hardly bleed.
» When the bone either breaks off or retracts, the wounds clear up within moments, unless he is severely injured/tired, then he takes longer to heal.
» Mortal injuries send the boy into a coma until his body can heal himself - he was stabbed in the chest, and it took his body three days to heal itself fully, all though he was awake after two.
» He has been: cut continuously for hours to test out long it took to change healing times, his spine as been broken to see if he can recover from that (yes), and he's been stabbed, shot, and even burned countless times.
» As a result of both of his mutation, and the testing, Lotus has an extremely high pain tolerance.

Brief History:
Jin Park was born on March 3rd, 2003 to two Korean immigrants. His parents took his birthday of 3.3.3 to be a good omen. They were wrong. Jin was only six years old when he started showing mutant abilities. Jin had very little control over his abilities. The Parks pulled their son out of school and started to home school him, in an effort to keep his abilities hidden. It was all going well until the middle of 2010.

His mother had taken him out for ice-cream. Jin hadn't been out of the house in forever (his father forbid it, his mother snuck him out for a treat), and he was a little more excited than your average seven year old. Right as he took bite of his strawberry icecream cone, spikes of bone popped out along his body from the pleasure. He pulled them back in quickly, but it was too late, Jin had attracted attention to himself. Less than six hours later, Jin was in a hospital, one of the youngest people there, and his parents were deported, ensuring no one would be looking for the boy anytime soon.

The next six years were hell on the boy. Most of his days were filled with pain, be it from his bones piercing his skin on the doctor's commands, or from them hurting him to test his healing times. He was beaten, burned, stabbed, and prodded on a daily basis. Pain became his only constant.

Then came Kaine, and six years after he was taken to the hospital, Jin was free. He was thirteen, undersized and under-educated. He was placed into group home for mutant children, since his parents were unable to be located. The home was over crowded, and kids were often cruel, but it was the happiest time in Jin's life. It was here that he was first nicknamed Lotus (some kid said he was soft and delicate looking like the flower, he was, after all, smaller than most boys), and it stuck. Lotus didn't mind: Jin was the name he heard in his nightmares, said by clinical voices that would hurt him. Jin was a weak boy that suffered. Lotus was a new boy, a free boy who was learning to read and discovering the world outside of hospitals and pain.

The night Kaine was killed, Lotus sobbed. He cried harder than he had in a very long time. Most of the kids at the home cried. Less than a month later, they were all scooped up, and Lotus was one again Jin, once again in a hospital. He didn't dare share his chosen name with the doctors. Jin once again knew only pain.

One month ago, the hospital Jin was being held at was 'liberated' by a group of mutants. Freed, Jin was able to be Lotus again, a man now, who didn't have to do as a man in a white coat said, who didn't hurt nearly every waking moment. It's been a little rough since then, Lotus was pretty much thrust into the world with very few skills and no place to live. Lotus managed to get a job washing dishes (there aren't many options for a boy with only four real yeas of education) and has been living with several other mutants, renting a small illegal apartment.

Affiliations: good, eventually
Relations: none yet
Desired plot(s): someone needs to pull him into the Rebellion

((NOTE: Obviously I don't type/spell like that. The written word is not Lotus' forte, since he's had very little education.))

Roleplaying Sample -

Lotus had just left work. He was happy to be done for the day. His back was a little sore, from standing at the sink all day except for lunch time, but as he walked in the busy street (big crowds still threw the boy off, and made him nervous) the kinks worked out themselves. Lotus had peanut butter and jelly for lunch. One of the other guys at the house said it was a good cheap lunch, but Lotus liked it because it tasted good! It was sweet. Lotus liked sweet things. But not ice-cream. Ice-cream made his chest lock up and his stomach flip.

He was in a good mood as he walked. He kept his head down, except to smile at people who looked like they needed smiles (Lotus was amused by the shocked looks they gave back). Lotus was fine, heading for home, when he saw the man in the white coat getting out a cab. A doctor. Jin came back out at the sight, shaking and sweating. Jin whimpered, and his head whipped around, looking for a place to hide.

He saw the library doors. Libraries were big and full of books that made him sad because he couldn't read them, but they were free. Jin was running for the doors, not looking as he went across four lanes of traffic. A car struck his legs. Jin stumbled forward, crying out in pain, almost a howl. Now the doctor was looking at him! His leg was broken for a moment, but he snapped the bone back without having to even really think about it, and kept moving. Jin ran up the steps and into the coolness of the library, panting hard. He was looking over his shoulder, to see if the doctor was coming, when he walked straight into someone with a soft umph.

"OH! I'm sorry, sorry, sorry!" He said, louder than he should be in the library, to the stranger, eyes nearly comically wide with panic. He was tense, waiting for anger or pain, or for the doctor to come back in. As he stood there, he couldn't figure out what would be worse.
